Remi is an avid retriever with a fun-loving
temperament. She is out of our foundation stud,
“Wager”, and foundation bitch, “Bet”.
She hunts and does retrieve ducks as proven by
her passing the four required UKC started tests
for her SHR title  and successfully passing the
components for her Working Certificate hunt test
WC title. Remi belongs to our son Brody and he
has done an excellent job with her in obedience
and agility; just for fun, as he is not interested
in those titles. Remi’s legs are spring-loaded and
she can scale our five-foot fence! Remi was our
pick puppy from our litter of Wager to Bet and is
a well-behaved girl as shown by her CGC (this is
the AKC-sponsored Canine Good Citizen test).
In her limited conformation showing she easily defeated the competition for her Canadian and International Championships at just over one year of age. She moves beautifully as she just floats around the ring!   Unfortunately before she could get her AKC CH, her show days were cut short.

In the spring of ’04 she contracted blastomycosis, a fungal disease which lodged in her eye causing the loss of her eye.  She has made a full recovery and that will have no impact on her offspring. Blastomycosis is a spore-borne disease which occurs where you have large amounts of decaying wood near water. That allows a fungus to grow in the soil which can be released when the soil is disturbed and spreads through the air in the form of spores which can then be inhaled by humans and animals.  It usually lodges in the lungs and then spreads through the bloodstream to various parts of the body.  Remi had a lesion on her lung and a secondary site in her eye.  In a matter of just a few days from the first sign of a weepy eye we had no choice but to have the specialist remove her eye due to the build-up of intense pressure and the detachment of the retina. It took some time to get her depth perception but she is now accustomed to having one eye and is doing a wonderful job in all venues. Given her above mentioned accomplishments, the loss of her one eye has not stopped her from just being a dog, enjoying doing dog things, being loved by her main man, Brody.

She has had three litters, and has thrown quality. One of her pups, “Kali,” was the Best of Opposite Sex in the Puppy Sweepstakes at the 2006 Toller National Specialty.
